Tarkett Introduces Education-Focused Flooring to Promote New Learning Opportunities

Recently, Tarkett introduced an education-focused flooring collection, designed to tap into learning growth. Discovery, a new collection of floorings designed by Tarkett North America, is a unique offering created to aid architects and space designers in building uplifting and inspiring education-based spaces.

“Good education flooring design supports each person who comes through the door, in every square inch of the building,” said Jonathan Stanley, vice president, education & government strategies, Tarkett North America. “We developed Discovery with those needs in mind. Our designers explored the neurodivergent spectrum and what it means to educate the whole child. The result is a collection that combines serene neutrals and vibrant colorways to encourage curiosity, imagination, and perspective in all types of learners.”

The Goal of the Tarkett Discovery Collection

When developing Discovery, Tarkett considered a space's impact on learning, thinking, behavior, and overall engagement. What colors and patterns promote thinking and concentration while opening the minds of educators and students alike?

To create a flooring that fulfills this purpose, Tarkett turned to “serene neutrals and vibrant colorways to encourage curiosity, imagination, and perspective.”

Tarkett has also made an effort to include environmentally-friendly options in this collection to promote a healthier indoor environment by utilizing ethos Modular with Omnicoat Technology carpet backing. Ethos is created using 48-64% recycled materials, is ‘Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver,’ manufactured using 100% renewable energy, and is optimized for human and environmental health.

Discover Options: Patterns and Colorways

Discovery currently offers 2 soft-surface options (Visual Path and Mentor) that offer highly- vibrant visuals, and patterns. Both options are available in Powerbond and other modular tile sizes and in 12 colorways.

Additionally, Method LVT will become a new option bringing more geometric and playful energy, coming in 8 colorways and custom colors. Method brings “best-in-class scratch and stain resistance, a boon for keeping education spaces clean and ready to promote healthy learning environments.
